Electoral Reform

Voting is not compulsory in India. If you are of the opinion that no candidate of election before you is good, you can deliberately cast invalid vote or disclose your vote and make your vote invalid. After EVM's such votes are recorded to be not casted by presiding officers in the new system. In both these cases the secrecy of negative vote of a person cannot be honoured and it is his fundamental right to a great extent, which was infringed earlier.

Recent decision of Hon'ble Court provides the India voters an option to cast a negative vote. It will definitely increase the voters turnout. It will also curb bogus voting and rigging as well as impersonation. It will gradually improve the stuff of candidates and force the political parties to select only good and service oriented candidates for party tickets. It will remove people of doubtful credential.

The decision is a precursor for a larger canvas of reform and leaves many practical conditions cropping or practically coming in the future before administration and election department and parliament will be forced to decide those issues and other modalities as and when required.
